Insert a Function into a Formula [Visio 2003 SDK Documentation]

  1. Double-click the cell, and then place the insertion point where you want to paste the function.

  2. On the Insert menu, click Function.

  3. In the Insert Function dialog box, click the function you want in the list.

If you want Visio to include the syntax for the function's arguments, select the Insert arguments into formula bar check box.

  4. Click OK.

  5. Supply the arguments you want for the function by typing them, by clicking ShapeSheet cells, or by using the NAME function to select ShapeSheet cells.

  6. When the formula is finished, press ENTER to accept changes. Or press ESC to cancel the changes.

Note   Certain functions appear in formulas generated by Visio, but are not listed in the Insert Function dialog box or described in this ShapeSheet Reference. These functions begin with a single underscore (for example, _ELLIPSE_THETA). They are reserved for internal use and should not be used in other formulas.
