Capacity Field, Machine Center Table

Specifies the capacity of the machine center.

In general, the capacity is the amount of work that can be done in a specified time period. The capacity of a machine center indicates how many machines or persons are working at the same time. For example, if the capacity is two, it means that twice as much work can be done at the same time.

The program uses this field when you run the Calc. Machine Center Calendar batch job to calculate the capacity in the shop calendar.

Note

Operations on machine centers set up as constrained resources will always be planned serially. This means that even if a constrained work center has multiple capacities (the Capacity field is higher than 1), then operations performed by those capacities will only be planned in sequence, not in parallel, as would be the case if the machine center was not set up as a constrained resource.
