Creating a Package

A package is a group of components and repositories. Packages are used to manage associated components and repositories as a single unit.

A package is defined in Component Designer and saved in an .sld file. After you create a package, you can add components and repositories to the package by modifying the definitions of those components and repositories. Membership in a group is specified by the members, not by the group.

To create a package

  1. In Component Designer, open the .sld file or create a new one.

  2. In the SLD browser in the left pane, expand the platform node.

  3. Right-click Packages and choose Add Package.

The properties of the package appear in the details pane. For more information, see Common Properties.

  4. Type the appropriate information in each box.

  5. To specify a secondary platform for the package, choose Platforms, choose a platform from the list, and choose OK.

If only one platform is supported, the Secondary list is blank.

  6. To add extended properties to the package, choose Advanced.

For more information, see Extended Properties.

  7. Save the .sld file.

  8. Add components and repositories to the package.

For more information, see Assigning an Object to a Group.
