New Project in Existing Folder Template

Visual Studio .NET 2003

The New Project in Existing Folder template creates a blank project within an existing application directory. You can then choose to add the files from the pre-existing application directory into this new project by right-clicking each of these items in Solution Explorer and selecting Include in Project on the shortcut menu.

Note   This project type is not available in the Standard Edition of Visual Basic and Visual C# .NET. For more information, see Visual Basic Standard Edition Features or Visual C# Standard Edition Features.

After you select this template and enter a project name, the Create a New Project in Existing Folder dialog box appears. You can type in a path or browse to an existing folder.

Tip   Click Show All Files on the Solution Explorer toolbar to view the pre-existing files.

If you create the new project for an existing Web application on a server, you can browse to an existing Web folder by selecting My Network Places in the browse window and locating the Web directory where you want to place your new project.

Note   To create a new Web project in an existing Web folder, you must ensure that the settings for your application are set to File Share. For more information, see Web Access Methods.
