How to: Get Involved in the Developer Community
You have several opportunities to participate in the online developer community, from within Visual Studio. For example, you can post a question to a forum, access Web sites with developer information, and collaborate with others on online projects.
Some developer community features require a Passport account.
Post to Community Forums
You can browse the forums found at http://forums.microsoft.com/msdn/default.aspx. You can also search for specific information in the forums from within Visual Studio.
To post a question to the community from within Visual Studio
From the Community menu, choose Ask a Question.
In Enter Keywords, type the subject of your search and then click Go.
Any forum threads that match your search are displayed.
Click on a result to view it or search again.
Once you have posted a question, you can easily check to see the replies to your question.
To check on the status of a post from within Visual Studio
From the Community menu, choose Check Question Status.
If prompted, enter your Passport account information.
Select the appropriate thread from your posting list.
View Developer Web Sites
You can access both Microsoft and select third-party Web sites from within Visual Studio.
To access Microsoft Developer Center Web sites from within Visual Studio
From the Community menu, choose Developer Center.
Your active settings file determines which product Developer Center you are directed to. For example, if you are using Visual Basic settings, the Visual Basic Developer Center appears.
