Linker Tools Error LNK1123

failure during conversion to COFF: file invalid or corrupt

The object or resource could not be converted to Common Object File Format (COFF).

Input files must have the COFF format. If an input file is not COFF, LINK automatically converts 32-bit OMF objects to COFF, or runs CVTRES.EXE to convert resource files.

To fix the problem, check the following possible causes

  1. Is the file corrupt?

  2. Is the file a valid file type? An example of an invalid type is a 16-bit OMF object.

  3. Are you running a version of Visual C++ that's earlier than Visual C++ 2010 Service Pack 1 (SP1)?
