Unspecified module entry point for custom action '<name>'

The EntryPoint property for a specified DLL custom action is blank or specifies a nonexistent or invalid entry point. A valid entry point must be specified for DLL custom actions.

To correct this error

  1. Double-click the error message in the Task List to go to the custom action in the Custom Actions Editor.
  2. In the Properties window, select the EntryPoint property and specify a valid entry point within the DLL.
    Note   For DLLs created using Visual C++, entry points must be defined using the extern keyword in order to be visible to Windows Installer. For more information, see Using extern to Specify Linkage.
