3.1.4 Higher Layer-Triggered Events

The MLME-PSD-Transmit.request primitive is generated by the SME as a result of a higher layer event in order to start transmitting the discovery information element as part of any Beacon and Probe Responses that are subsequently transmitted. A request that does not contain any discovery data cancels the transmission of a previously registered discovery information element for the same format identifier.

The contents of a discovery information element and its format identifier are passed to the MLME SAP by using the MLME-PSD-Transmit.request primitive.
