1.6 Applicability Statement

The RMS: ISV Extension Protocol is used for the following purposes:

  • Decommissioning: Extract a content key for protected content so that RMS protection can be removed.

  • Precertification: Acquire a recipient's public key for the purpose of acquiring a use license from a different RMS server on behalf of a recipient.

  • Republishing: Alter the rights granted via an IL by issuing a new IL with the same content key as the original.

  • Prelicensing: Acquire a use license on behalf of a recipient.
