You are Not World-Ready If...

Your application does not support native calendars

The Gregorian calendar is only one of many calendars supported by Windows 2000, Windows XP, and Windows Vista (Buddhist, Hebrew, Hijri, and so on). Even within the Gregorian calendar, the formatting of the date can completely change its meaning depending on the locale. For example, the date 07/04/01 could mean:

  • July 4th, 2001 in the United States
  • April 7th, 2001 in France
  • April 1st, 2007 in Japan

Notice in the example below that in one component the date is shown as Gregorian calendar dates, and in the other component the date is displayed as a Taiwanese calendar date:
