Microsoft onCampus

Workshops for students to learn how to build Windows 8 apps! That's right - the entire app building process, from start to finish. It doesn't matter if you are an experienced programmer, or completely new to building apps. We will start with an introduction to Visual Studio 2012, show off the built-in templates for Windows Store apps in Windows 8, and work with you to customise the templates to create your very own app. With over a billion PCs in use, Windows represents the largest platform in the world. This unprecedented reach, combined with the fact that any PC running Windows 7 can run Windows 8, presents you with a tremendous revenue opportunity. For the full hands-on experience, please bring your own laptop with Windows 8 and Visual Studio 2012 installed, or just come along to watch.

Windows 8 App Workshops

Microsoft New Zealand is bringing hands-on Windows 8 App Development training workshops to five cities across the country. It doesn't matter if you are an experienced programmer, or completely new to building apps. We are crafting a series of hands-on tutorials specifically for these events, designed to be short and interactive sessions - introducing you to a range of Windows 8 app development features. Step-by-step, follow-along labs will include data access, integrating charms, and even preparing your app for the Windows Store.

Although most demonstrations and hands-on labs will be around building Windows Store apps for Windows 8, we will show you how transferrable these skills are - and discuss building mobile apps for Windows Phone, as well! For the full hands-on experience, please bring your own laptop with Windows 8 and Visual Studio 2012 installed.
