Nigel leads the Developer Experience Group in NZ. This means working with the great team below to excite customers and communities about Microsoft’s new and emerging technologies like Microsoft Azure, Windows 8 and Windows Phone. Nigel has been in the DX team for 8 years most recently as technical evangelist before taking on a business development role for Windows apps. Prior to Microsoft Nigel had broad experience in start-ups and system integrators building and launching software based products locally and globally. During his time in DX he has led strategic change with New Zealand developers, government agencies, start-ups, top NZ websites and media companies. This work has evolved into the app focus we have today in DX with Windows Azure, Windows Phone and the Windows 8 development ecosystems.

The evangelism team has technical responsibilities for driving awareness, usage and demand for Microsoft tools. Each of its expert members has a slightly different focus.
Ryan T is passionate about the NZ developer community. Ryan focuses on building, growing, and enhancing the developer communities around New Zealand. A graduate from both the University of Auckland and the University of Otago, Ryan is kept busy (and awake) by his beautiful baby girl, Kayla. With what little spare time he has available, he throws lavish barbeques for the DX team at the house he hand-built for his family.

Technical Audience Marketing
Anna likes to walk fast and is often described as optimistic and peckish. As the Technical Audience Marketing Specialist Anna helps to manage the online and offline communications for the TechNet and MSDN brands. In other words she spends her time communicating with devs, IT pros, students and startups. She has Degrees in Psychology, Marketing and Japanese but finds they are usually only combined when there is sushi for lunch. Anna enjoys looking at really big or small things, listening to jazz and smelling fresh baking. In the past she’s worked for a small cloud start up that sold language learning products and most recently in advertising for iconic NZ FMCG brands. Outside of work Anna’s helped to build a mud house in Nepal and worked as an archery teacher. In the future she’s looking forward to graduating to steeper slopes on her snowboard.
