ToolStripItem.Parent Property

Note: This property is new in the .NET Framework version 2.0.

Gets or sets the parent container of the ToolStripItem.

Namespace: System.Windows.Forms
Assembly: System.Windows.Forms (in system.windows.forms.dll)

protected internal ToolStrip Parent { get; set; }
/** @property */
protected ToolStrip get_Parent ()

/** @property */
protected void set_Parent (ToolStrip value)

protected internal function get Parent () : ToolStrip

protected internal function set Parent (value : ToolStrip)

Property Value

A ToolStrip that is the parent container of the ToolStripItem.

The parent ToolStrip can be distinct from the owner ToolStrip, because the item can fall into another window such as an overflow. In this case, the overflow is the parent, but the original ToolStrip is the owner. The parent ToolStrip fires paint events and so on, while the owner ToolStrip contains shared data such as image lists. Typically, the Parent property is set by the layout manager on the ToolStrip.
