DataList.RepeatColumns Property

Gets or sets the number of columns to display in the DataList control.

Namespace: System.Web.UI.WebControls
Assembly: System.Web (in system.web.dll)

public virtual int RepeatColumns { get; set; }
/** @property */
public int get_RepeatColumns ()

/** @property */
public void set_RepeatColumns (int value)

public function get RepeatColumns () : int

public function set RepeatColumns (value : int)

Property Value

The number of columns to display in the DataList control. The default value is 0, which indicates that the items in the DataList control are displayed in a single row or column, based on the value of the RepeatDirection property.

Exception typeCondition

ArgumentOutOfRangeException

The specified number of columns is a negative value.

Use this property to specify the number of columns that display items in the DataList control. For example, if you set this property to 5, the DataList control displays its items in five columns.

NoteNote

If this property is set to 0, the DataList control displays its items in a single row or column, based on the value of the RepeatDirection property. If the RepeatDirection property is set to RepeatDirection.Horizontal, the items are displayed in a single row. If the RepeatDirection property is set to RepeatDirection.Vertical, the items are displayed in a single column.

The following code example demonstrates how to use the RepeatColumns property to specify the number of columns to display in the DataList control.

NoteNote

The following code sample uses the single-file code model and may not work correctly if copied directly into a code-behind file. This code sample must be copied into an empty text file that has an .aspx extension. For more information on the Web Forms code model, see ASP.NET Web Page Code Model.
