DataBoundControl.ValidateDataSource Method

Note: This method is new in the .NET Framework version 2.0.

Verifies that the object a data-bound control binds to is one it can work with.

Namespace: System.Web.UI.WebControls
Assembly: System.Web (in system.web.dll)

protected override void ValidateDataSource (
	Object dataSource
)
protected void ValidateDataSource (
	Object dataSource
)
protected override function ValidateDataSource (
	dataSource : Object
)

Parameters

dataSource

An object set to the DataSource property.

Exception typeCondition

ArgumentException

The object passed by the dataSource parameter is not a null reference (Nothing in Visual Basic) or a recognized type.

The ValidateDataSource method is only called in the BaseDataBoundControl class's mutator (set accessor) for the DataSource property. The DataBoundControl class checks the type of the object that is set for the DataSource property to ensure that it is an instance of the IDataSource, IListSource, or IEnumerable interface.
