Server Configuration Dialog Box, SourceSafe Internet Tab (Administrator)

Visual Studio 2005

Allows configuration of the Internet service for remote access to a Visual SourceSafe database. This service must be configured to enable access for the SourceSafe Internet plug-in for Visual Studio. Access is either via HTTP or HTTPS, if the Secure Sockets Layer (SSL) is being used.

Re-enabling remote access to a database might require you to manually set permissions for the VssWebUpload and VssWebDownload folders. For more information, see How to: Set Share Permissions for a Database.

Dialog Box Access

In Visual SourceSafe Administrator, on the Server menu, click Configure.

Enable remote access for this computer

Selects the Internet service for configuration.

Enable remote access for this database

Specifies that the plug-in will have remote access to the database.

Configures the Internet service and/or sets up remote access to the database.

Require secure communication using SSL

Specifies that SSL must be enabled for secure communications between the plug-in and the server.

Web Server Name (DNS name or IP address)

Specifies the Web server name for the service being configured. You can enter either a Domain Name Server (DNS) name or an IP address. If you are using SSL, then this name must match the server name for which the SSL certificate is issued.
