In Microsoft SQL Server 2005, classes for creating and managing instances and applications are in the Microsoft.SqlServer.Management.Nmo namespace. This class is replaced by the Microsoft.SqlServer.Management.Nmo.NotificationServices.Instances property, which returns an InstanceCollection object. This class is included only for compatibility with earlier versions of Notification Services and may not be supported in a future release.

The InstanceEnumeration class allows an application to iterate through the set of Notification Services instances available on the local computer. It also provides an Item property to return information about a specific Notification Services instance as an NSInstanceDescription object.

This class is used primarily for administrative purposes and for configuring subscription management applications.
