Unmanaged Reflection API
Most metadata can be accessed using managed reflection. In a few cases, metadata is difficult to retrieve using the classes provided in managed reflection. There are also cases where managed reflection does not provide the best possible performance.
For information on the unmanaged reflection API, see. The structures and enumerations used by the API are documented along with structures and enumerations for other unmanaged APIs in and .
Using the unmanaged reflection API requires familiarity with the Common Language Infrastructure (CLI) documentation, especially "Partition II: Metadata Definition and Semantics" and "Partition III: CIL Instruction Set". The documentation is available online at http://msdn.microsoft.com/net/ecma/ and http://www.ecma-international.org/publications/standards/Ecma-335.htm.
