Managing Embedded Devices

This section provides information to help IT administrators to use Microsoft System Center Configuration Manager 2007 to manage embedded devices, addressing issues such as the need for software distribution, monitoring the health of devices, reimaging, and remote monitoring. This document focuses on managing embedded devices that run Windows Embedded Standard 7, Windows Embedded Standard 2009, Windows Embedded POSReady 2009, Windows XP Embedded, and Windows Embedded CE 6.0 R3. The procedures provided for Windows Embedded CE 6.0 R3 are generally applicable to devices that run earlier versions of Windows CE, including Windows CE .NET 4.2 and Windows CE 5.0. The procedures provided for Windows Embedded POSReady 2009 are generally applicable to devices that run Windows Embedded Point of Service. Microsoft product support for Windows CE .NET 4.2, Windows CE 5.0, and Windows Embedded Point of Service might no longer be available.
