Configuring Predictor Resource Properties

Commerce Server 2000

Prediction recommendations are enabled by default in the Predictor resource for use with the Commerce Server Data Warehouse. If you want to disable the default recommendations, you must modify the Active Server Pages (ASP) code or rename the analysis model that the ASP code expects to load for the default recommendations.

The first two procedures explain how to configure the Predictor resource properties so that the Predictor resource will list models and model configurations in databases other than the Commerce Server Data Warehouse.

  • If you want to use a database other than the Commerce Server Data Warehouse database, you must reconfigure the Use external database property, and then enter a connection string for the external database using the Data Link Properties dialog box.

To list analysis models and model configurations in an external database

  1. Expand Commerce Server Manager, expand Global Resources, right-click Predictor on <server name>, and then click Properties.

  2. In the Predictor on <server name> Properties dialog box, on the Properties tab, in the Properties box, select Use external database.

  3. In the Selected property value box, set the property to -1 (True).

The Predictor resource will list models and model configurations from an external database, in addition to those in the Data Warehouse, in the Commerce Server Manager console. (Models and model configurations in the Commerce Server Data Warehouse are always listed.)

After you have set this property, you must set a connection to the external database.

To set the connection string to an external database

  1. Expand Commerce Server Manager, expand Global Resources, right-click Predictor on <server name>, and then click Properties.

  2. In the Predictor on <server name> Properties dialog box, on the Connection Strings tab, select External database, and then click Modify.
