Locales Panel (Windows Embedded CE 6.0)

1/6/2010

The Locales panel specifies which international locales the plug-in supports.

This panel displays a subset of locales supported by existing Windows Embedded CE versions. For the current release, you can specify only English or Japanese locales for plug-in binary files. The locale that a plug-in uses depends on the locale setting of the Remote Tools shell and the Remote Tools Framework. If you have installed the English version of the Remote Tools Framework, the default components are English. Likewise, if you have installed the Japanese version of the Remote Tools Framework, the default components are Japanese. If the language version of the Remote Tools Framework does not match the locales in your plug-in components, the framework first looks for locale-independent components. Otherwise, it uses whatever is available.

To select locales, select the locale name(s).

Note

You can display the user interface (UI) of your plug-in desktop-side code in any locale listed in this panel, regardless of the UI locale of the Remote Tools Shell. This applies to device-side code as well, provided you have given it a UI. The Remote Tools Shell first attempts to load any plug-in UIs from binaries that match the locale of the shell itself, but if it cannot find a match, it uses the first locale that is available in the plug-in.

If no locales are selected on this panel, files associated with file components in the Desktop panel, and the Device Packages panel, automatically have their locale set to Any. If you select new locales on this panel, new file entries add automatically to file components, and you must associate specific files with a locale.

New files are added with the default path value of <double-click to edit>, which must be changed. Select different paths for each locale.
