Virtual Ethernet Miniport(VEM) (Windows Embedded CE 6.0)

1/6/2010

Virtual Ethernet Miniport is a new component introduced in Windows Embedded CE 6.0. It is a wrapper layer, providing ethernet emulation to the PPP protocol stack. WAN interfaces that bind to the PPP protocol can now be managed in the same way as any other ethernet interfaces.

VEM will report a different physical media type OID_GEN_PHYSICAL_MEDIUM to distinguish itself from a true ethernet interface.
