The following sections show some of the devices that are made possible with the networked media device functionality added in this release of Windows Embedded CE.

Networked Media Device

Describes how a networked media device, along with Windows Media Connect, allows media that is stored on a remote Microsoft Windows XP–based computer to be played on a compact device anywhere in the house.

Set-Top Box

Describes how set-top boxes allow TV reception of regular and digital programming over the air, over cable, or from satellite, and how they also serve as a base for increasingly powerful media devices that support digital video recording and Internet connectivity.
