You can use the Windows Embedded CE 6.0 OS Design Wizard in Platform Builder to create an Emulator IP Phone OS design and run-time image.

To create an IP Phone OS design and run-time image for an Emulator

  1. In Platform Builder, from the File menu, choose Project.

  2. The New Project dialog appears. Enter the Name of the project and any modifications you want to make to the Location or Solution Name.

  3. Under Templates in the dialog, double click OS Design.

  4. Choose OK.

  5. The Windows Embedded CE 6.0 OS Design Wizard appears.

  6. Choose Next.

  7. From Available BSPs, select Device Emulator: ARMV4I, and then choose Next.

  8. From Available design templates, select Phone Device, and then choose Next.

  9. From the list of available VoIP phones, select IP Phone Advanced, and then choose Next.

  10. On the Applications & Media page, do not select any options, and then choose Next. (The Design Wizard already includes all applications that are required to create a VoIP phone.)

  11. On the Networking & Communications page, do not select any options, and then choose Next. (The Design Wizard already includes all networking functionality required to create a VoIP phone.)

  12. To complete the Design Wizard and create the OS design, choose Finish.

Now that the OS design is complete, you must choose a configuration and then build the run-time image.

  13. From the Build menu, choose Configuration Manager.

  14. In the Configuration Manager dialog, under the Active Solution Configuration choose Device Emulator ARMV4I Release, and then choose Close.

  15. On the Build menu, select Global Build Settings and verify that Copy Files to Release Directory After Build and Make Run-Time Image After Build are selected.

  16. On the Build menu, select Targeted Build Settings and verify that Make Run-Time Image After Building is selected.

  17. From the Build menu, choose Build Solution.

Platform Builder builds the files for the run-time image, copies the files to the release directory, and then creates a run-time image .bin file.

Next, configure a remote connection to the Emulator on this computer and download the run-time image to the Emulator. For detailed instructions, see Downloading the Emulator IP Phone Run-time Image.
