SourceSafe Options Dialog Box, Shadow Folders Tab (Administrator)

Sets options for a shadow folder that you create for a project. Shadow settings for a project can be set explicitly for that project or inherited from parent projects. See How to: Create and Maintain Shadow Folders.

Note

You must quit Visual SourceSafe Administrator and tell all your users to close and restart Visual SourceSafe Explorer for the changes that you make in this tab to take effect.

  • Set shadow folder to
Specifies the shadow folder. This folder can be anywhere on the network. You can also use the Browse button to search the file system for a suitable location.

Remarks

When Visual SourceSafe copies a file into the shadow folder, it uses the end-of-line character for its own operating system. In a multi-platform environment, the files in the shadow folder use a mixture of end-of-line characters, based on which operating system each file was updated from most recently. Setting this option forces all versions of Visual SourceSafe files to use the specified end-of-line character. For more about end-of-line characters in Visual SourceSafe, see EOL Initialization Variable.
