Using the SDI Loader (Windows Embedded Standard 2009)

When you install the Windows Embedded Studio for Windows Embedded Standard on your development system, SDI Loader is installed. With this tool you can create, connect, and disconnect file-backed virtual disk drives.
Note
SDI Loader attempts to install the SDI Driver if required.
To add and initialize a new disk image (.sdi) file using SDI Loader
Choose Start, then All Programs, then Microsoft Windows Embedded Studio, and then choose SDI Loader.
In the Storage Device Image Loader dialog box, choose Add Disk.
In the Open dialog box, browse to the appropriate location, type a name for a new .sdi file in the File name box, and then choose Open.
Choose Yes.
In the Specify Drive Size dialog box, in the Enter Size box, type the size for the virtual drive, and then choose OK.
The disk drive has now been added.
Choose Done.
Use Disk Management to initialize, partition, and format the virtual disk drive. To open Disk Management, in Control Panel, open Administrative Tools, and then open Computer Management.
For information about using Disk Management, in Computer Management, choose Help from the Action menu.
To add an existing .sdi file
Choose Start, point to All Programs, point to Microsoft Windows Embedded Studio, and then choose SDI Loader.
In the Storage Device Image Loader dialog box, choose Add Disk.
In the Open dialog box, browse to the appropriate location, select your .sdi file, and then choose Open.
The disk drive has now been added.
Choose Done to close the dialog box.
To remove a disk image file
Choose Start, point to All Programs, point to Microsoft Windows Embedded Studio, and then choose SDI Loader.
In the Storage Device Image Loader dialog box, select the .sdi file you want to remove, and the choose Remove Disk.
Choose Done.
