Debugging an Xbox 360 Game

This section discusses issues that apply to debugging Xbox 360 games on your retail console.

Debugging an Xbox 360 game is similar to the process for deploying your game, with one exception. Instead of clicking Deploy Solution, click Start Debugging on the Debug menu. To run the game without actually debugging it, click Start Without Debugging on the Debug menu.

The following features are not available when debugging an Xbox 360 game with XNA Game Studio Express:

Interop DebuggingDebugging both managed and native code simultaneously.
Assembly DebuggingDebugging only your assemblies and not system assemblies.
Edit and ContinueEditing the binary content of your game without interrupting your debugging session.
Exception InterruptingStopping unhandled exceptions before they unwind, so the user can make changes and retry the operation.
Debugger VisualizersDisplaying a more informative view of a specific data type, such as XML data.
Exception Assistant SupportThe additional features provided by Exception Assistant are not available when debugging Xbox 360 games. Information on exceptions is provided by the standard Exceptions dialog box within XNA Game Studio Express.
