Quality of Service RSVP

The Quality of Service (QOS) RSVP component includes a service that performs RSVP signaling on behalf of Windows Sockets Specification 2 applications. The protocol used for signaling is an Internet Engineering Task Force (IETF) standard according to request for comment (RFC) 2202.

To use this component, your application must use the Generic Quality of Service (GQOS) application programming interface (API), which is available through Windows Sockets Specification 2. The information the application passes includes a flow specification, which defines the application's traffic profile. It can be used for traffic the application sends or receives. A layered service provider that is specific to QOS intercepts this information and translates it into RSVP messages.
