Windows .Net Messenger

The Windows .Net Messenger component provides Windows Messenger for Windows XP. Depending on the hardware and features that you include in your Windows-based device, this component provides messaging features that allow end users to perform the following tasks:

  • View users who are online
  • Send an instant message
  • Call a contact's computer and communicate using video
  • Send a file to another user
  • Send a message to a pager
  • Conduct an instant message conversation with a group
  • Invite someone to play a game or use Microsoft Remote Assistance
  • Receive notifications of events requested events
