Bootable CD-ROM Overview

When creating a bootable CD-ROM, you add the El Torito component to your configuration, which adds support for the bootable CD-ROM specification. The El Torito component allows you to create a bootable CD-ROM from a run-time image.

The following illustration shows the El Torito architecture that is implemented in Windows XP Embedded. Eltorito.sys is a bus driver that represents the El Torito CD as an enumerated disk drive.
