Windows Embedded Studio

Windows XP Embedded provides development tools that enable you to create, select, and manipulate the components you want in your run-time image, build the image, and deploy it to your embedded device. The following diagram shows how each of these tools fits into the development process. Click on one of the tools to link to the relevant section of the Help.

The development tools are:

  • Target Designer

    Use this tool to create, customize, and build a bootable run–time image. For general information about Target Designer, see Target Designer Guide.

  • Component Database Manager

    Use this tool to manage the component database and repositories, as well as import custom component information into the database. For general information about Component Database Manager, see Component Database Manager Guide.

  • Component Designer

    Use this tool to create a custom component, which you can add to the component database and modify as needed. For general information about Component Designer, see Component Designer Guide.
