Determine the resources that you need

Platí pro: Windows SBS 2008

One of the keys to successful planning is to understand the resources that you need during the integration process.

When you plan to integrate Windows SBS 2008 with Exchange Online, consider the following information:

  • You should determine the number of mailboxes, the mailbox size, and the rate of mailbox growth that exists in your organization. This information helps you to evaluate the impact of migration traffic on your network. Users should be able to store the same amount of data or more in the Exchange Online mailboxes. Users with extra-large mailboxes may need to move some content from their mailboxes to offline storage, such as a Microsoft Office Outlook .pst file.

  • You must use Office Outlook 2007 or Outlook Web Access (OWA) to access Exchange Online mailboxes. If your users are not familiar with these tools, you may need to schedule user training.

  • You should determine whether your organization uses applications that send e-mail and whether those applications will function correctly with Exchange Online. In some cases, it may be necessary to keep your existing e-mail environment, in order to support your applications until you can make the necessary modifications.

  • You may want to temporarily increase your Help Desk resources. Your users may have questions about Exchange Online as they become familiar with it, particularly during the e-mail coexistence and migration phases.
