Connect a mobile device by using a cradle or cable

This procedure requires Microsoft ActiveSync version 3.7 or later, which is included with Windows Small Business Server 2003.

  1. Click Start, point to All Programs, and then click Microsoft ActiveSync.

  2. Plug the cable from the cradle into the USB port or plug one end of the cable into the COM port on your client computer.

  3. Insert your mobile device into the cradle or connect the cable. ActiveSync connects automatically to your device.

Note

  • If you are using a serial cable, the COM port used during ActiveSync installation must be available (not in use) for ActiveSync to connect to your device.

    To free the COM port

    1. On the client computer's desktop, click Microsoft ActiveSync.

    2. On the File menu, click Get Connected.
