Edit Custom Component Set Dialog Box

This multi-tabbed dialog box allows you to modify the list of components displayed in the Object Browser or Find Symbol dialog box. You can access this dialog box in the Object Browser by selecting the Custom Component Set scope from the Browse list or in the Find Symbol dialog box by selecting the Browse button next to Look in.

To open the Edit Custom Component Set dialog box, expand the Browse list in the Object Browser and choose Edit Custom Component Set, or click the Browse (...) button next to the list. Then select the tab for the type of components you wish to Add or Remove from the Custom Components Set scope.

Component Tabs

The following tabs of available component types and locations are available. On the .NET, COM, Project, and Recent tabs, you can select any column head to sort the list displayed by that column:

  • .NET
    Lists .NET Framework components that can be added. This information is provided:

    • Component Name - The full name of the component

    • Version - The version of the component.

    • Runtime - The version of the .NET Runtime on which the component was designed to run.

    • Path - The full path on your computer or server to the component file.

  • COM
    Lists COM components registered on your computer. This information is provided:

    • Component Name - The full name of the component

    • TypeLib Version - The version of the component.

    • Path - The full path on your computer or server to the component file.

  • Projects
    Lists current projects from which components can be added. This information is provided:

    • Project Name - The full name of the component

    • Project Directory - The full path on your computer or server to the project folder.

  • Browse
    Allows you to browse the folders on your local machine and servers for components that can be added. Browse displays these fields:

    • Look in - Allows you to select a folder on your machine or server.

    • Folders and Files list - Displays the items available within the selected Look in folder.

    • File Name - Displays the name of the file selected in the Folders and Files list.

    • Files of type - Allows you to filter the Folders and Files list, so that only files of certain types are displayed.

  • Recent
    Displays components recently used. The information provided is identical to those displayed in the Selected projects and components list.

Selected projects and components

The Add and Remove buttons and Selected projects and components list are visible on all tabs of the Edit Custom Component Set dialog box.

  • Add
    Adds the selected component to the Selected Components list. You can also double-click items to add them to the list.

  • Remove
    Removes a component from the Selected Components list. Doing so does not delete the actual component from the system.

  • Selected projects and components
    Lists all components to be included in the Other Components browsing scope.

  • Component Name
    The full, or "friendly," name of the component. Select the column head to sort the list by component name.

  • Type
    The type information provided by the component. Select the column head to sort by component type.

  • Version
    The version number of the component. Select the column head to sort by version.

  • Source
    The full path and name of the component file. Select the column head to sort by location.
