How to: Associate Work Items with Changesets

During the check-in process, you can associate work items with changesets as demonstrated in the following procedure. For more information on work items, see Team Foundation Work Items.

Required Permissions

To perform these procedures, you must have the Check in or the Check out permissions set to Allow. For more information, see Team Foundation Server Permissions.

To associate work items with a changeset

  1. From either the Pending Changes or Check In window, click the Work Items channel.

  2. In the list of the work items presented, scroll to locate the work items to be associated with the check-in and select the corresponding check boxes.

    Note

Before the list of work items are presented, you must select a query from the toolbar. This occurs the first time the channel is used, after that, the last query will automatically be run; however, you can select a different query as needed.

  3. Under the Check-in Action column, from the drop-down list box, indicate the action you wish to perform against the work item; select either Associate which associates the work item with the check-in, or Resolve which associates and resolves the work item.

    Note

Depending on the state of the work item, the resolve option may not be available. For example, if my query displays closed bugs, you would associate the work item but not resolve it.
