Add and Remove Co-Administrators for Your Windows Azure Subscriptions

Updated: January 25, 2013

Use the following procedures to add co-administrators to a Windows Azure subscription and to change subscription assignments for a co-administrator. Both tasks are performed in the Windows Azure Management Portal, by using actions in the Administrators section of Settings.

Subscription co-administrators can perform all tasks that the service administrator for the subscription can perform on hosted services and on content stored in the Windows Azure storage service by using storage accounts for the subscription. A co-administrator also can manage storage accounts, affinity groups, and management certificates for the subscription. For more information, see Manage Subscriptions and Storage Accounts in the Windows Azure Management Portal.

The service administrator and co-administrators for a subscription can add or remove co-administrators from the subscription.

noteNote
A co-administrator cannot remove the service administrator from a subscription. Only the owner of the Windows Azure account that was used to create a subscription can change the subscription's service administrator. By default, the person whose Windows Live ID was used to create the subscription is the service administrator. However, the Windows Azure account owner can change the default service administrator.

  1. Sign in to the Windows Azure Management Portal.

  2. In the navigation pane, click Settings.

  3. On the Settings page, click Administrators, and then click Add.

The Add Co-Administrator dialog box appears.

  4. In Email Address, type a valid Windows Live ID or corporate email address for the new co-administrator.

    noteNote
To sign up for a Windows Live ID, use the Windows Live Sign Up web page.

  5. In the Subscription list, select the check box for each subscription that you want the co-administrator to help manage, and then clickOK.

    noteNote
You can only select subscriptions for which you are the service administrator or a co-administrator.

  6. To verify that the task completed successfully, in the list of items on the Administrators page, review the subscription entries. The newly added email address should be listed as a Co-administrator for each subscription that you selected.

The following procedure describes how you can use the Edit action on the Administrators page to add or remove subscription assignments for a co-administrator.

  1. Sign in to the Windows Azure Management Portal.

  2. In the navigation pane, click Settings.

  3. On the Settings page, click Administrators.

  4. In the items list, select the co-administrator whose subscription assignments you want to update, and then click Edit.

The Edit Co-Administrator dialog box opens and displays a list of available subscriptions.

  5. In the Edit Co-Administrator dialog box, you can perform these actions:

    • Clear the check box next to a subscription to remove co-administrator permissions for the selected email account.

    • Select the check box next to a subscription to give co-administrator permissions to the selected email account.

  6. After you finish updating subscription assignments for the co-administrator, click OK.

  7. To verify the assignment changes, in the items list, review the list of subscriptions for the co-administrator.
