Build Events Page, Project Designer (Azure Tools)

You can specify build configuration instructions from the Build Events page of the Project Designer. You can also specify the conditions under which any post-build events are run.

  • Configuration
You can’t change the value of this control from this page.
  • Platform
You can’t change the value of this control from this page.
  • Pre-build event command line
From this control, you can specify any commands to run before the build starts. To enter long commands, choose the Edit Pre-build button to display the Pre-build Event/Post-build Event Command Line Dialog Box.

    Note

Pre-build events don’t run if the project is up to date and no build is triggered.

  • Post-build event command line
From this control, you can specify any commands to run after the build ends. To enter long commands, choose the Edit Post-build button to display the Pre-build Event/Post-build Event Command Line dialog box.

    Note

Add a call statement before all post-build commands that run .bat files (for example, call C:\MyFile.bat or call C:\MyFile.bat call C:\MyFile2.bat).

  • Run the post-build event
From this control, you can specify the conditions that cause the post-build event to run, as the following table describes.

    Option Result

    Always

The post-build event will run regardless of whether the build succeeds.

    OnSuccessfulBuild

The post-build event will run only if the build succeeds. Thus, the event will run even for a project that is up to date, as long as the build succeeds.
