Windows Azure

Everyone's talking about Cloud Computing now. And for developers, Cloud Computing is like a cool breeze on a hot summer's day. It takes the burden off you because you no longer have to worry about hardware and installing operating systems and databases.

Commercially available since February 2010, the platform has evolved tremendously and today includes features like compute, storage, access control, database and BI, virtual machines, CDN, VPN, caching, service bus and much more.

It's also getting a lot easier to have your application take account of variations in load. It's all included in the Windows Azure.

So you can save time during the development process and have fewer worried once the application is online. Meaning you can be totally relaxed and enjoy your holiday!

In half an hour

Take the time to understand what the Windows Azure is all about. Got a small idea or none at all? We have two resources for you, depending on your preferred format:

  1. Sit back and watch a video: Windows Azure Jump Start (01): Windows Azure Overview
  2. Nestle down in your favorite chair and read a white paper " Introducing the Windows Azure" or instead you can get your head around the different features the platform offers today.

In half a day

Half a day? Enough time to get your developer environment set up, take up a free trial offer and get to some coding.

Now you are ready to roll: Create and deploy an ASP.NET application in Windows Azure

In a full day

A full day can become a week if you want to dive into everything we have to offer you. Of course, start by setting up your machine so take a look at the first set of links in the previous ½ day section.
Once you are set up, different top resources are available to you in all types of formats (videos, tutorials, training kits, blogs, books). Dive right in!

Videos

During TechDays 2011 in Antwerp last April we delivered a full track on the topic. During the special Windows Azure Deep Dive day we had 5 sessions that you can now all watch online or download. In fact, why don't you load a few of these days to your favorite player and take some content with you on the road?
