      Recommendations:

      • Enter the SQL Server name. Do not enter localhost.

      • In a production environment, use a SQL Server. Do not use SQL Server Express.

      • SQL Server Express edition can be used. As a best practice, only use SQL Server Express during testing.

If using SQL Express, SqlExpress is typically used for the instance name. For example, you would enter SQLServerComputerName\SqlExpress.

      Click Next.

    6. Enter a master key password that complies with your domain password policy. This master key encrypts the database used by BizTalk Adapter Service.

      TipTip
As a security precaution, share this password with other Runtime administrators.

      Click Next.

    7. Enter the certificate bindings for the BizTalk Adapter Service website:

      • Use SSL to secure the management service: Check this option to encrypt the HTTP requests with SSL.

      • Select an existing SSL certificate: Select this option to select an existing certificate from the Certificates personal store. The certificate should be from a trusted certificate authority. Use this option with “production” data.

      • Port: Enter the port number for the BizTalk Adapter Service website. By default, port 8080 is specified. Confirm the port is open in your firewall.

      Click Next.

    8. Click Install and when the installation completes, click Finish.

When the installation completes, a setup log file is created in the user’s temp directory at C:\Users\UserName\AppData\Local\Temp.

When complete, you have an on-premise IIS server that manages the LOB connectivity with your cloud-based BizTalk Services application. Using the BizTalk Adapter Service Windows PowerShell cmdlets, you can also manage the LOB Relays and LOB Targets used by your cloud-based BizTalk Services application.
