This paper provides information about SMP for Windows 8 and Windows Server 2012. It provides guidelines for storage manufacturer developers to develop an SMP. It is especially useful if you have previously developed a VDS provider.

This paper assumes that you are familiar with Windows Management Instrumentation, and is not intended to cover details on the Windows Standards-Based Storage Management Service or on writing SMI-S based providers.
