Getting Started with the Windows 8 Hardware Certification Program

The Windows Certification Program (previously known as the Windows Logo Program) provides you the tools, guidance, and support to help ensure your product is reliable and compatible with Windows. If you create hardware products or drivers, we strongly encourage you to learn more about the benefits of hardware certification, its new requirements, policies, and tools.

By certifying your hardware device, system, and drivers for Windows, you gain the support of Microsoft marketing resources in the form of compatibility and reliability listings, logo artwork, promotional partnerships, and access to Windows Update for distributing updates to drivers.

How to Get Started

1. Set up a VeriSign and Hardware Dashboard account.
2. Design your product that meets Windows Logo Program Requirements.
3. Test your product using the Windows Hardware Certification Kit (HCK).
4. Submit your test package to the Hardware Dashboard Service.
5. Monitor and maintain your product using the Hardware Dashboard Service, including review error reports and update driver distribution. 
6. Stay Informed about changes to the program.
