Semaphore.TryOpenExisting Method

For apps that target Windows Phone OS 7.0 and 7.1, do not use this member in your app. If you do, your code will throw a MethodAccessException. This member is security-critical, which restricts it to internal use by the .NET Framework for Windows Phone class library.

Opens the specified named semaphore, if it already exists, and returns a value that indicates whether the operation succeeded.

Parameters

name
Type: System.String
The name of the system semaphore to open.
result
Type: System.Threading.Semaphore %
When this method returns, contains a Semaphore object that represents the named semaphore if the call succeeded, or Nothing if the call failed. This parameter is treated as uninitialized.

Return Value

Type: System.Boolean
true if the named semaphore was opened successfully; otherwise, false.
