XML Request-Reply Bridge : Specifying the Schemas for the Request and Response Messages
Updated: November 21, 2013
A single BizTalk Service project can have multiple bridges and multiple schemas. For ease of use and to also save on processing time, you can associate schemas with bridges. In other words, you can specify that a specific bridge can only process request messages and send response messages that conform to a specific schema or a set of schemas. In this topic, we will see how to define this association.
To specify the request and response schemas for the XML Request-Reply Bridge
Add the schemas to a BizTalk Service project as explained in Add Items to a BizTalk Service Project. Repeat this step to add any number of schemas that you need for your project.
Double-click the XML Request-Reply Bridge component to open the itinerary designer.
Note Note that the itinerary designer is a read-only surface. You cannot add or remove a stage or an activity from the itinerary designer.
On the XML Request-Reply Bridge design surface, within the Message Types box, click the add icon [ ] to open the Message Type Picker dialog box.
In the Message Type Picker dialog box, from the Available message types box, select the schema for the request message and then click the right arrow icon [ ] under the Request Message Type section to associate the request schema with the XML Request-Reply Bridge.
Similarly, from the Available message types box, select the schema for the response message and then click the right arrow icon [ ] under the Response Message Type section to associate the response schema with the XML Request-Reply Bridge.
Important You cannot add multiple request and response message schemas at the same time. To associate more schemas with the XML Request-Reply Bridge, repeat steps 3, 4, and 5.
In the Message Type Picker dialog box, click OK. The schemas that you selected should now be listed under the Request Message Type and Response Message Type boxes.
To remove a schema association with an XML Request-Reply Bridge, select the schema from the Request Message Type box or the Response Message Type box, and then press the delete icon [ ].
To replace one schema association with another, click the edit icon [ ] to launch the Message Type Picker dialog box again.
Click Save to save changes to the Bridge Configuration.
