Configuring SQL Server 2000 (64-bit)

SQL Server 2000

This topic applies only to SQL Server 2000 (64-bit).

After Setup completes the installation of Microsoft® SQL Server™ 2000 (64-bit), you can further configure SQL Server using graphical and command prompt utilities. All the command prompt utilities available for the 32-bit version of SQL Server 2000 are also provided with SQL Server 2000 (64-bit). Of the graphical tools, only the Server Network Utility and the SQL Server Service Manager are provided with this release of SQL Server 2000 (64-bit). The Client Network Utility is provided by the operating system, as part of Microsoft Data Access Components (MDAC). The other graphical tools can only be installed with the 32-bit version of SQL Server 2000 on the 32-bit Microsoft Windows® operating system, and are not supported on the 64-bit Windows operating system. However, you can use the graphical tools installed with the 32-bit version of SQL Server 2000 to remotely manage 64-bit SQL Server features.
