TimeSpan.Ticks Property

Microsoft Silverlight will reach end of support after October 2021. Learn more.

Gets the number of ticks that represents the value of the current TimeSpan structure.

Namespace:  System
Assembly:  mscorlib (in mscorlib.dll)

Syntax

'Declaration
Public ReadOnly Property Ticks As Long
public long Ticks { get; }

Property Value

Type: System.Int64
The number of ticks contained in this instance.

Remarks

The smallest unit of time is the tick, which is equal to 100 nanoseconds. A tick can be negative or positive.

Examples

The following code example creates several TimeSpan objects and displays the Ticks property of each.
