このインターフェイスは主に、アンマネージ リソースを解放するために使用します。マネージ オブジェクトが使用されなくなると、同オブジェクトに割り当てられているメモリはガベージ コレクタによって自動的に解放されます。ただし、ガベージ コレクションが行われるタイミングは特定できません。また、ガベージ コレクタでは、ウィンドウ ハンドル、開いたファイルやストリームなどのアンマネージ リソースが認識されません。

ガベージ コレクタを使用して、明示的にアンマネージ リソースを解放するにはこのインターフェイスの Dispose メソッドを使用します。オブジェクトがもはや必要でない場合、オブジェクトのコンシューマはこのメソッドを呼び出します。

C++ プログラマは、「Destructors and Finalizers in Visual C++」を参照してください。.NET Framework Version では、C++ コンパイラは、リソースの確定的な破棄を実装するためのサポートを提供しますが、Dispose メソッドの直接的な実装は許可しません。

IDisposable インターフェイスを既存のクラスに追加することは、そのクラスのセマンティクスを変更することであるため、互換性に影響する変更点と言えます。

IDisposable インターフェイスの呼び出し

IDisposable インターフェイスを実装するクラスを呼び出すときは、try/finally パターンを使用して、アプリケーションが例外によって中断された場合でもアンマネージ リソースが確実に破棄されるようにします。

try/finally パターンの詳細については、「Try...Catch...Finally ステートメント (Visual Basic)」、「try-finally (C# リファレンス)」、または「The try-finally Statement」を参照してください。

try/finally パターンの代わりに using ステートメント (Visual Basic の場合は Using) を使用できるので注意してください。詳細については、「Using ステートメント (Visual Basic)」ドキュメントまたは「using ステートメント (C# リファレンス)」ドキュメントを参照してください。
