How to: Upgrade from a Trial Edition of Visual Studio

You can evaluate the Professional, Premium, Ultimate, and Test Professional editions of Visual Studio 2010 for up to 90 days. The evaluation period begins when you use the product for the first time. The length of the trial period depends on product registration. If you do not register the product, you can use it for 30 days; if you register it, you can use it for a total of 90 days.

You can register anytime within the first 30 days to obtain the remainder of the 90-day period. For example, if you download and use Visual Studio 2010 Premium for 10 days and then register it, you can use it for an additional 80 days. To continue to use the product after 90 days, you must provide a valid product key. For information about how to locate the product key, see How to: Locate the Visual Studio Product Key. Before you upgrade, we recommend that you review the Visual Studio 2010 and MSDN Licensing White Paper that is available on the Microsoft Download Center website.
