The Windows Internet Explorer Standards Support documentation details variations, clarifications, and extensions to certain final approved web standards supported by Internet Explorer.

This documentation set is intended to be used in combination with the publicly available specifications. It assumes that the reader either is familiar with this material or has immediate access to it.

This documentation provides the following levels of audience support:

  • Implementer: Conceptual and reference information to implement an interoperable solution using one or more specifications for a given task or scenario.

Internet Explorer Standards Support Documents

Describes variations, clarifications, and extensions to final approved web standards, including Cascading Style Sheets 1.0, HTML 4.01, Document Object Model (DOM) specifications, and XML specifications. Also includes documentation for Cascading Style Sheets 2.1 and the W3C test suite failures for HTML 4.01 and CSS 2.1.
