MSDNAA Overview

The MSDN Academic Alliance is the easiest and most inexpensive way for academic departments to make the latest Microsoft software available in labs, classrooms, and on student PCs. The program, which is available in more than 45 countries worldwide, has two primary goals:

  • To make it easier and less expensive for academic institutions to obtain Microsoft developer tools, platforms, and servers for instructional and research purposes.
  • To build a community of instructors who can share curriculum and other learning resources to support the use of these technologies.

MSDNAA Subscription Options

Developer AA
Get the latest Microsoft servers and development tools—over 300 titles in all! Developer AA is an annual membership for departments that use technology in support of Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM) courses.

Designer AA
Make the latest Microsoft Expression design tools available in labs, classrooms, and on student PCs at Art/Design schools and universities. Designer AA is an annual membership for departments that use technology in support of Visualization, Illustration, Design, and Art (VIDA) courses.

High School AA
High School AA is an annual membership for schools that makes the development and design tools found in Visual Studio and Expression Studio 2 software available in labs, classrooms, and on students' PCs.

Why Go Electronic?

The Online (electronic fulfillment) version of the Developer AA membership contains the exact same usage rights and available products as the DVD-based version. It's priced lower than the disk-based version because it costs us less money to deliver the product to our customers, and it's better for the environment, too. We encourage all of our customers to Go Green and Go Electronic!
