We are improving the certification experience for Windows 8! As always, the Windows Hardware Certification Program (previously known as the Windows Logo Program for Hardware) provides you the tools, guidance, and support to help ensure your product is reliable and compatible with Windows. For Windows 8, the Windows Hardware Certification Program will offer you a simplified process that is streamlined to focus on customer scenarios. If you create hardware products or drivers, we strongly encourage you to learn more about this program and its new requirements and policies.

Start to Use the Windows 8 Hardware Certification Requirements

If you are planning hardware products for Windows 8, start now to use the requirements for the Windows 8 Hardware Certification Program to help ensure your products and drivers take full advantage of all that Windows 8 has to offer. Although you cannot yet submit for Windows 8 certification, your product will be better prepared for submission if you design and build with Windows 8 requirements in mind.

Continue to Submit by Using the Windows 7 Logo Program for Hardware

If you are creating hardware products or drivers for Windows 7, Windows Vista, or Windows XP, you should continue to use the requirements and tests that are part of the current Windows Logo Program for Hardware. Microsoft urges you to certify your products with the Windows Logo to help customers identify quality products that are easy to install and that run without interfering with other components on Windows-based computers.
